What is your prayer / hope for Redemption Hill?
My prayer and hope for Redemption Hill is that, from its first day to its last, this church will be a place where the words of Scripture are proclaimed and received “not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God…” (1 Thessalonians 2:13). I pray also that we would be known as people who have “turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven” (1 Thessalonians 1:9-10), as we “learn to devote [ourselves] to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need…” (Titus 3:14).
What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Use your unmarried days well. They’ll be gone before you know it.
What are your favorite books and movies?
Books: The Bible, Mere Christianity (C.S. Lewis), Desiring God (John Piper), The Tipping Point (Malcolm Gladwell) and Building A Bridge To the Eighteenth Century (Neil Postman).
Movies: The Jason Bourne Trilogy, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Matrix (Part 1 only), Gladiator, The Fugitive (Part 1), National Treasure (Part 1), The First Knight, and Pride and Prejudice (Don’t laugh…it’s great quality time with the wife).
What’s playing in your car or on your ipod?
In my car: The Bible on CD, or the latest toddler song collection that we borrowed from the public library.
On my ipod: Sermons from John Piper, Tim Keller, or Alistair Begg.
