Hail the Day that Christ Arose

And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied. – 1 Corinthians 15:17-19

This Sunday we will be introducing a new song to our Sunday gathering entitled Hail the Day that Christ Arose, originally by Charles Wesly and entitled Hail the Day that Sees Him Rise, but adapted by Steve and Vicki Cook. It is featured on the Sovereign Grace Music album Risen. Hail the Day that Christ Arose celebrates the resurrection of Jesus from the grave and his ascension to heaven to sit at the right hand of God, and points to this as the sure sign that the power of the future age has broken into the present, that our justification is secure, that the powers of hell have been disarmed, that all those who trust in Christ will one day have glorified bodies, and that the new creation has dawned. Here are the lyrics to the song:

Hail the day that Christ arose
Through the skies to world’s unknown
Glorious there He ever reigns
Object of all Heaven’s praise

See Him lift His hands above
See the scars of His great love
He has conquered death and sin
Saving all who hope in Him

Hallelujah, hallelujah
The King of Love is on His throne
Hallelujah, hallelujah
His grace will lead us safely home

Though He dwells beyond the stars
His redeemed are on His heart
Even now He intercedes
Jesus cares for all our needs
