Sermon Reflection Guide – Ecc 3:16 – 4:3

Download: Sermon Summary and Discussion Guide

I said in my heart with regard to the children of man that God is testing them that they may see that they themselves are but beasts. Ecclesiastes 3:18

How often  I act just like an animal!  My “fight or flight” reactions to most things that don’t go my way really show that I am much more like a beast than I care to admit.  My anger (fight) or depression (flight) is really a symptom of me living “under the sun” (just like our pets) with only my limited 5 senses at work.

This week I was given access to a new set of lenses with which to view life.  God is in control, so I don’t have to be angry when things don’t work.  Jesus has secured God’s love and care for me so I can have hope, even when things look bleak.  This good news allows us to live beyond our 5 senses with an eternal hope found in Christ and what he accomplished for us on the cross.  As you reflect upon this sermon, may God give new eyes to see and ears to hear!
