The Everlasting

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? – Psalm 27:1

This Sunday we will be introducing a new song to our Sunday gathering entitled The Everlasting, by Fellowship Church. It is featured on the Fellowship Church album The Everlasting. Based on Psalm 27:1-14, The Everlasting is David’s prayer and reminder that despite the many tribulations he was experiencing, his help was from the Lord. The strength that he had to endure suffering was not of himself, and his deliverance would not be due to his own ingenuity, but by the Lord who would deliver him. The Psalm ends with a final word of counsel from David. A final and all-sufficient word of wide application, that was not only relevant to David, but relevant to every one of us, no matter the trials we may be facing today:

Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD! – Psalm 27:14

Here are the lyrics to the song we will be introducing this Sunday:

The Lord is my light and salvation
Whom shall I fear of whom shall I be afraid?

I will wait for you
I will wait for you

I will remain confident in this
I will see the goodness of the Lord

I will trust in you
I will trust in you

We set our hope on You
We set our hope on Your love
We set our hope on the one who is the Everlasting God
You are the Everlasting God

You can listen to The Everlasting below by clicking the video, and you can purchase and download the song by clicking here. May David’s prayer from Psalm 27:1-14 kindle our hearts with devotion to God. Lord, may we dwell in Your house all the days of our life. May we gaze upon Your beauty as we seek You in Your temple. May we be kept safe in Christ, hidden in him in the day of trouble. May our hearts cry out, “Lord, please don’t hide your face from me!”. Lord, may our hearts long for Jesus Christ alone, no matter what happens.
