Lesson Review – Ephesians 2:1-13 – From Death to Life

Here are some review notes from this week’s lesson in our preschool and K-4 classes. This week we studied Ephesians 1:1-14 – Chosen before the World Began.

This is lesson 64 of 78 in our study of the New Testament. This lesson corresponds with Story 142 in The Gospel Story Bible and with Week 64 of the Old Story New family devotional.

Gospel Truth for Today

While we were dead in our sins, God makes us alive together with Christ.

The Lesson In A Sentence (or Two)

In our sins, we are spiritually dead. We ultimately need God to make us alive through Jesus.

Questions for Discussion

1. What does it mean to be dead in your sin?
Dead in sin means that there is no Spirit of God in a person, and there is no movement toward God. A person dead in their sin cannot come toward God. They are stuck in sin.

2. What does it mean to be made alive in Christ?
Jesus can touch our hearts and make them alive again. He can do that because he already took the penalty for our sin on the cross. Jesus took our death so he can give us his life!

3. Ephesians 2:10 says that in Jesus we are created for good works. What good works would you like to do some day?
Accept any answer and use it as a springboard for discussing how God works in us to bless the world around us.

Praying together – Take time to pray with your child, asking God to make your hearts alive to him. Also take time to pray for those you know that currently don’t know Jesus and ask God to make their hearts alive as well!
