Lesson Review – Ephesians 6:1-20 – The Armor of God – copy

Here are some review notes from this week’s lesson in our preschool and K-4 classes. This week we studied Philippians 2:1-11 – The Humility of Christ. This is lesson 68 of 78 in our study of the New Testament. This lesson corresponds with Story 146 in The Gospel Story Bible and with Week 68 of the Old Story New family devotional.

Gospel Truth for Today

Jesus humbled himself by not only becoming a man, but by living a perfect life of love and obedience to God and then taking our sins upon himself on the cross.

The Lesson In A Sentence (or Two)

Though Jesus was God, he humbled himself for our sake. In doing this Jesus not only became our example and motivation, he became our redemption when we fail to live humbly.

Questions for Discussion

What does it mean to humble yourself?

If you humble yourself you treat others better than you treat yourself.

How did Jesus humble himself?

He gave up the glory of heaven that belongs to him as God to come to earth as a man.

Why did Jesus come to earth to be a little baby?

Jesus came to earth as a human child so that he could grow up living a perfect life and then die on the cross to take the punishment we deserved for our sins.

Praying together – Take time to pray with your child, ask God to help you treasure Jesus’ humility and that it would help you to freely love and serve others.
