Lesson Review – Luke 1:26-38 – Gabriel Visits Mary

Here are some review notes from this week’s lesson in our preschool and K-4 classes. This week we studied Luke 1:26:38 – Gabriel Visits Mary

This is lesson 1 of 4 in our Prepare Him Room advent series.

Gospel Truth for Today

God used Isaiah’s prophecy about the arrival of Jesus to prepare His people for a king unlike any other king. Jesus would be born fully man and “mighty God.” His kingdom would have no end. While Jesus died for the sins of his people, he rose again from the dead and is seated on an everlasting throne in heaven!

The Lesson In A Sentence (or Two)

Long ago the prophet Isaiah spoke of a king that would be born. The angel Gabriel brought the good news to Mary that this king was to be her son, whom she would call Jesus.

Questions for Discussion

1. What does advent mean?

The arrival.

2. What arrival are we celebrating?

The arrival of Jesus our Savior.

3. What happened in today’s story?

Long ago Isaiah gave a prophecy of Jesus’s birth and Gabriel the Angel told Mary about how her son will be the Son of God.

4. What did Isaiah say would be characteristics of Jesus?

Mighty God, Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace, Everlasting Father

5. How is Jesus different than other kings?

He is not a political power. He is King of people’s hearts instead of land. Unlike other kings that rule over their people and punish them, Jesus came and lived among us and ultimately took the punishment of our sin upon himself.
