Lesson Review – Luke 2:8-20 – The Angels Visit the Shepherds

Here are some review notes from this week’s lesson in our preschool and K-4 classes. This week we studied Matthew 1:18-25 – God Speaks to Joseph in a Dream

This is lesson 3 of 4 in our Prepare Him Room advent series.

Gospel Truth for Today

The Angels pronounce to the shepherds that the birth of Jesus is “good news of great joy that will be for all people.” Indeed, this is good news for all who hear. Jesus lived the life we were supposed to live and died the death that we deserve so that we might be made right with God.

The Lesson In A Sentence (or Two)

An angel appears to a group of shepherds announcing the Jesus has been born.

Questions for Discussion

Who appeared to the shepherds in today’s story?

A lot of heavenly angels.

What did the angel say to the shepherds?

Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:10-11)

Why do you think the shepherds were afraid?

Angels don’t just appear every day in the sky. They didn’t know if the angels were coming to bring them good news or bad news.

What was the good news the angels brought the shepherds?

The angels brought them the good news that a Savior (Jesus) was born in the City of David.
