Lesson Review – Romans 3:10-22 – A Gift of Righteousness


Here are some review notes from this week’s lesson in our preschool and K-4 classes. This week we studied 2 Corinthians 9 – God Loves a Cheerful Giver

This is lesson 58 of 78 in our study of the New Testament. This lesson corresponds with Story 136 in The Gospel Story Bible and with Week 58 of the Old Story New family devotional.

Gospel Truth for Today

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption the tis in Christ Jesus (Romans 3:23)

The Lesson In A Sentence (or Two)

In Romans 3 Paul clearly lays our the sinful condition of every person, pointing out that in our own effort we will always fall short of God’s good commands. Our only hope to be made right is though faith in Jesus.

Questions for Discussion

What does the word “righteous” mean?

The word “righteous” describes a person who does not sin. It describes a person who is obedient to God and does everything God commands.

Who is Paul talking about when he tells us that no one is righteous? 

He is talking about all people.

Can anyone be righteous?

Only Jesus was able to be perfectly righteous. He lived a sinless life, fully loving and obeying God. It is this sinless life that he gives to us when he changes our hearts. He takes our sin and gives us his righteousness.

Praying together – Take time to pray with your child, asking God to forgive you of your sin and thanking him for sending Jesus to be your righteousness.
