RH Kids Update

We LOVE kids. Our RH kids LOVE their classes. Each week they are lovingly cared for by volunteers who sing with them, pray with them and teach their little hearts and minds to engage the gospel and treasure Jesus.

We wanted to remind everyone that this Sunday, and in the weeks to come, these little hearts and minds will be with us for the duration of the service. This is an intentional opportunity to take necessary time to recruit and train volunteers.

God has been gracious to our church family and explosively grown the numbers of kids among us. This growth requires more volunteers to love our families and serve our children. As we take the time to seek volunteers, it’s a strategic time to train all volunteers — those previously serving and newcomers, enabling us to essentially relaunch our kids ministry with greater excellence and intentionality.

Not only will relaunching bring a more consistent and trained volunteer base that will profit our kids, but also a curriculum change that will profit the whole family.

Because we aim to partner with parents to cultivate the souls of their children, we will begin transitioning all classes to a new curriculum, The Gospel Story for Kids. This curriculum better helps Moms and Dads build a gospel-centered foundation for their children. We’re pretty excited about it and hope you will be, too. Here’s why:

  1. This curriculum is truly gospel-centered — revealing how Jesus is the ultimate end of every story, every book and every letter of Scripture.
  2. Each class will be learning the same text and memorizing the same scripture each week at age appropriate depths, allowing parents to easily review lessons with their entire family. If you have more than one child, you know this is exciting.
  3. Even more, the Gospel Story Curriculum has a corresponding story Bible and a 5-day/week family devotional that is designed for 10-minutes a day and builds upon the Sunday lesson.

If you’re a parent, this means you will have this opportunity to worship together with your
entire family alongside the rest of the RH church family. Your kids will sing, greet others, and hear the same message as you.

We know this will take some adjusting for your family and more involvement from you on Sunday mornings. We’ve provided some guiding thoughts and hope you embrace this as an opportunity to lead your children and model the priority of corporate worship.

To help ease the transition, we’ve expanded the available space in the transition room (cafeteria). This room has a video feed of the service with mats and toys for babies and toddlers to enjoy quiet, parent-directed play. Kid’s bulletins and coloring sheets are also provided on the information table.

For all Redemption Hill attenders, this means you should expect Sunday mornings to look different for a little while. Think more “family dinner” and less “date night.” We trust you’ll be welcoming to our littlest members of the family and show them grace and patience as they adjust to the larger service.

We’re praying God will quickly call many of you to love and serve our families by committing to regularly teaching our children. Please prayerfully consider if you’d serve our King and your fellow RH family members in this way.

If you would like to serve our families and help relaunch our RH Kids classes, please sign up to attend one training. All volunteers must complete this training, even if you have served RH Kids in the past. Training focuses on our Policies & Procedures to ensure that each child entrusted to RH Kids is safe and loved every single week.

One-hour training classes are offered every Wednesday at 7PM and Sunday at 8:30AM throughout the summer. To RSVP click here, contact: deneen @
