Call to Worship

Adapted from Genesis 1, Psalm 8, and John 1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jesus was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and without Him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in Him was life, and the life was the light of all people. And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen His glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. When we consider Your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, What are we that you are mindful of us? What are we that you care for us? From His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. The law indeed was given through Moses; but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Adapted from Psalm 51:10-12 and Romans 1:18-23
Father, giver of every good thing, we are slow to give you thanks, and quick to take your blessings and credit for what we have. We withhold honor due your name, but bestow our love on your creation. We say “Yes!” to the creation, but “No!” to the Creator. In doing so, we have exchanged your immeasurable glory for momentary distractions. God, create a clean heart in us, and renew a steadfast spirit within your people. Do not banish us from your presence, or take your Holy Spirit from us. Restore the joy of our salvation, and sustain us with a willing spirit.

Assurance of Pardon

Ezekiel 36:26-27
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

1 Thessalonians

This Sunday, Robert Greene will continue in our sermon series on 1 Thessalonians.

‭Ephesians 4:1-6
Father, help us to lead a life worthy of the calling to which we have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as we were called to the one hope of our calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.
