Sunday Rhythm | October 4, 2020

Welcome to the Sunday morning rhythm of Redemption Hill Church. If this is your first time “joining” us, please let us know by filling out this online form.

While the rhythm below is provided for your reference and use, please note that the entire Sunday gathering, including singing and prayers, will be streamed live at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.

  • If you haven’t already done so, be sure and check out Pastor Robert’s latest video briefing.
  • How to Study the Bible – Join Sebastian Traeger beginning this Sunday, October 4th, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom, for a five-week class on learning how to study the Bible. This class will pull from best practices and methods for studying the bible. We hope to equip you both for personal study, and for teaching others. You’ll see how to ask questions of a text in different genres (OT narratives, wisdom literature, gospels, and epistles), and how to use study tools for help. Overall, the aim is to stir joy within you through observing, interpreting, and applying scripture. Click here for more info and to register.
  • Gospel-Fluency – How can the gospel have a deeper impact on our everyday lives? How can I speak about Jesus so others can experience this? Where in my life am I failing to believe the truth about God and the gospel? How can I better understand my own experience of God’s grace? How can my story help others believe? Join Mark Becton beginning Sunday, October 18th, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom, for a five-week course using Jeff Vanderstelt’s book Gospel-Fluency: Speaking the Truths of Jesus into the Everyday Stuff of Life. Click here for more info and to register.

    Call to Worship

    Psalm 5:7–8
We, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. We will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you. Lead us, O LORD, in your righteousness because of our enemies; make our way straight before us.

    The Book of Samuel

This Sunday, Robert Greene will continue in our sermon series on The Book of Samuel. His text will be 1 Samuel 17:1-58. If you missed last Sunday, you can listen and/or watch here.

    Assurance of Pardon

    Psalm 103:8-12
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

    Sending on Mission

    Psalm 20:1-9
May the LORD answer us in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect us! May he send us help from the sanctuary and give us support from Zion! May he remember all our offerings and regard with favor our burnt sacrifices! May he grant us our heart’s desire and fulfill all our plans! May we shout for joy over our salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all our petitions! Now we know that the LORD saves his anointed; he will answer us from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright. O LORD, answer us when we call.
